Let customers speak for us
from 21 reviewsI was once lucky enough to be taught by Tim - his books are like him: friendly, funny and hugely informative without being daunting. I now have my own huge veg garden and newly planted orchard / forest garden in West Wales and this book will support me in my endeavours.
I grow willow and make baskets already, but this booklet gave me new insights into the history of basket willow in the UK and aspects of harvesting.
Really looking forward to reading and learning from this book. arrived promptly, well packaged and in new condition
I only found green woodworking this year whilst trying to make use of a hazel tree I have.
I have found a couple of books I like by Ray Tabor and Ben Law but found Ray's work much more rounded over the whole process and background rather than just the actual making.
I'll be honest, I got this book as it particularly mentioned walking sticks and spoons and even though it was only part of one chapter on both items, it was enough for what I wanted.
As this is an encyclopedia of the subject though, it is very thorough and it is the best book I have picked up on the subject. I'm definitely going to dip in and out of this but also read it throughout when I get a chance.
A MUST for any green woodworker enthusiast.
Well pleased with my purchase which arrived promptly.
This book is not only full of Tim’s deep knowledge and practical experience but is told with his quirky humour that just makes you chuckle and want to get out there growing, despite the relentless rain and slugs.
I’d just come across Miyawaki forests and got this book as an explainer. Great explanation of what they are and how examples in the real world. Would recommend.
I have not yet tried growing any of the plants in the book but I have been reading it with interest. It covers some plants I knew about and many that are new to me and will inform my cooking as well as my growing!
I'm doing a seed saving course and this is the recommended book. You hear people all over the place mention it. While it's not seed harvest time yet for this season, I have read the book with interest and feel better informed. It helps you plan what to plant and how many plants to grow and how to plan for harvesting and saving the seed. It's obvious Sue Stickland has many years' experience and she writes in a clear, informative and interesting way.
Received the book quickly. I thought it was mainly to do with growing microgreens but it isn't. I've looked through it but haven't tried growing anything yet.
This is a great book which all teachers should read. The ethics of Earth care, People care and Fair share are delivered in a wonderful way in this book
The book is well written, combining expert advice on organic vegetable growing but in a lighthearted and realistic fashion. It's structure combines general information about how best to approach organic gardening with specific advice about individual vegetables
A Fantastic book full of permaculture information and great ways of involving children in permaculture and to foster their love of nature. Lots of ideas to inspire children on their permaculture journey.
Enjoyed reading this as much as Flat pack Democracy. It gave an honest account of what worked and what didn't. It is a useful guide for those who want to see their council more representative of local interests. Recommending it to all my friends as I did with the previous one!
This booj is so interesting that I am recommending it to all my friends. It gives hope that local councils can be run in a democratic way and that people want the best for their community. It contains a great many tools for others to use and makes me want to move to Frome!
